演題:「Crystal Growth and Anisotropic magnetic properties and quantum criticality in some Ce-compounds」

日時:3月3日 16:00
場所:コラボレーション棟4階 共同研究室
概要:
The Ce-based intermetallic compounds often show many interesting magnetic properties like heavy-fermion, Kondo effect, quantum criticality etc. Recently, the observation of quantum critical point (QCP) in Ce compounds has attracted a widespread interest in the field of condensed matter physics, both in experiment and theory. The QCP is realized by tuning a finite temperature critical point to zero temperature. The tuning can be achieved by various methods like hydrostatic pressure, chemical substitution or in some cases application of large magnetic fields. High quality single crystalline samples are necessary to observe the quantum critical behavior. In this talk, I will focus on the single crystal growth and anisotropic magnetic properties of CeMg3 and CePd2Ge2 compounds which are probable candidates to exhibit quanum critical point by application of pressure and by magnetic field.
