Project Overview

Superconducting materials with abundant and environmentally friendly light elements are of vital importance for a sustainable society. This project integrates the work of ten world-leading groups from the EU and Japan, and aims at achieving a step change in materials science of light element molecular superconductors as well as designing new systems with higher transition temperatures. Through the synthesis of new materials coupled closely to new control, measurement and theoretical approaches we will deepen knowledge of novel superconducting pairing mechanisms and competing electronic states. The rich diversity of materials classes with high frequency phonons and the ability to control the importance of electron correlation justify the focus on light element molecular systems.
